Bold Braiding

I’m long overdue for a date with the hairdresser, but in the meantime to battle boredom I’ve been turning to braids.  I’ve been experimenting with different takes on the style, searching out new styles or attempting to invent my own.  I tried to create a bow-like style with a twisted spin on a classic braid paired with bold red that added a little fun to a drab day.

I’m heading to sunny South Beach, Florida at the end of the week and I find myself slowly sinking into a vacation mentality.  While I try and stay focused for the next few days, feather-light tops and loungewear-worthy pants ideal for lazing poolside with an evening cocktail have been holding me over until my plane departs.

Gypsy

It’s funny how you can live in an area all your life and still discover unique new spots you never knew existed.  The bf and I found this little gypsy cart tucked away in the corner of town and it was too fun not to stop and investigate — and twirl around a little.

Playing with Prints

I usually try and abide by a two print maximum when mixing patterns since any more than that becomes a bit too busy.  I mixed basic grey stripes with florals for casual parties this weekend though and found that a third pattern can be worked into the equation when it falls into the same color family — like a great pair of grey snakeskin wedges.

Artificial Light

Yesterday was another dreary weather day that needed more than just a fluorescent flash.  Instead, since there was no real sun out, I decided to wear my own little bit of sunshine with the brightest skirt I own.  Some days just require you to create your own sunbreak no matter how grey the day is.
