I finally got around to taking this jacket to my tailor, and while she warned me that the results wouldn’t be perfect, I kind of like it that way.  I think the next steps will be roughing it up with some sandpaper and possibly chopping the much too long sleeves, but in the meantime I love how it contrasts with bright colors and dresses with flirty skirts.
