I’ve definitely been guilty of “theme dressing” over the years. I’m not sure the bf will ever forget the year I talked him into buying a full Uncle Sam costume just for the bottoms so he could match my patriotic swimwear down the shore. Over the year’s I’ve tried to tone it down some* while still incorporating the perfect touch of patriotic playfulness that a holiday celebrated with fireworks and cookouts deserves. Pairing a casual navy and white striped top with a lacy white skirt is tame enough for even the most hesitant of “theme dressers”. And for those of us feeling a little more bold, a pop of red lip and statement jewelry adds just a bit more flag-waving fun.
Okay, maybe not, considering this is what I wore last year.
